Loving My Travels Through Japan, Hong Kong , Thailand, & The Mexican Riviera    I consider myself a God when it comes to travel. The tattoo guy in Japan once told me, " Don't worry. This character means Trust ." I bravely responded, " Ok, let's get two tattoos then . " I now have Japanese tattoos on both of my shoulders. I know from my first-hand adventures that Google Maps works in Mexico, Asia, and many more continents. One Uber driver in Thailand even took the time to write a review about what a wonderful Uber customer I am, " This customer was so wonderful. He paid his bill without giving me any trouble. I would definitely pick him up again. "  I  received this very personalized e-mail from the CEO of ClubMed Cruises," Congratulations! You can give us $5,000 for a three day cruise in The Mexican Riviera . This comes with a free Hawaiian T-shirt."   If this wasn't all enough to prove my travel accomplishments to ...

Mom's Action Sweatpants My mom owned one pair of beige action sweat pants. Her beige action sweat pants horrified the Dent kids. My mom armed herself with a duster, on action sweatpants day. My mom taunted our favorite toys with the green lawn trash bags on action sweatpants day. My mom didn't need words. My siblings and I sprinted. My siblings and I put way our toys on action sweatpants day. We didn't want our toys to get green trashbagged (thrown away) on action sweatpants day. Matchbox cars and plastic WWF wrestling guys survived action sweat pants day. My mom threatened. She still had a heart. Broken-Earred Barbie (my sister's toy) also usually lived through action sweatpants Saturday My mom laced up the drawstrings to her action sweatpants on the first Saturday of the month at 9:00. My mom's action sweatpants lost many battles. Happy Meal grease, and red Gallo wine stained the front of my mom's action sweat pants. H...

Teaching I love my job. I love my students. They love me. I still love the end of the school day. I am human. 1-2-3 Children Go ______ _____  ____  If  teachers are not already staring at their watch, one universal song of happiness exists in Taiwan The Children Go The Fuck Home Song brings teachers' days to an end. The Children Go The Fuck Home sounds like Sally Struthers whining in Chinese.. But, it still makes us all dancing in our chairs at 3:59 p.m. On this Friday afternoon, the famous Children Go The Fuck Home song already passed. I approached my car . The thoughts in my headed tumbled, turned, and twisted more than a usual Friday afternoon. One thought continued to outmatch the millions of others   In that intertwined mess above my face, the victorious thought was to remember shit. This was to signify to myself  to remember as much as possible on the drive down from Xinying to Fangliao 90/10 Rule I switched the mode ...

Taiwan Culture Shock & 4 Google Free Ways To Handle It

Image
I have been living and travelling in Taiwan for almost 7 months. It has been wild ride of up and down emotions that included a brutal battle with culture shock. Background " I want to strangle somebody." "Only 312 more days, 22 hours, 15 minutes, and 27 seconds more until my contract is up." I found the above quotes written in my daily journal. I am certain they should have been a pretty clear indication that something more than just the funny noise the lousy air conditioner makes at my place of employment was bothering me. I spent the first two months taking pictures and updating my Facebook status about 3-5 times a day. I was absolutely blown away by the magic and huge differences I was discovering in my daily adventures. Everything was NEW and EXCITING! I am not sure why it took me to realize something was wrong. Day 61(Roughly) The magic and excitement of watching a pack of 75 year old Taiwanese people gamble on checkers was bound t...
